In order to provide you with quality service, Platypus Junction is required to collect personal information about your child and your family before and during the course of your child’s enrolment at Platypus Junction. Platypus Junction is committed to protecting your privacy and abides by the National Privacy Principles contained within the Privacy Act.Privacy of your personal information is important at Platypus Junction and our business handles this information with respect and integrity.
What information do we collect, why and how is it used?
Basic details are usually collected directly from parents such as names, address, phone contacts at home & work, but it is also necessary to collect details regarding your child’s name, date of birth, medical details, health, routine, likes and dislikes, which make up your child’s personal profile.In addition information may be collected and held regarding Child Care Benefit entitlements and fee payment.
This information is vital in assisting us to provide the best possible individual care and education for your child, as well as processing payment of fees. Some of the information that is collected is required to satisfy the services legal obligations under the relevant childcare legislation.
Much of the information collected and held is of a personal nature and might be regarded as sensitive and not for disclosure to other parties.
To this end Platypus Junction ensures that:
• This information is only used by our childcare professionals in order to deliver high quality care & education
• Information is not disclosed to those not associated with the care and education of your child without your express consent
• You may request to seek access to information held about you and your child and this access will be provided without undue delay
• Access to information might involve inspection of your child’s records or provision of copies of information
• Reasonable steps are taken to ensure that the details kept about your family are accurate, complete and up to date
• Procedures are in place to protect information from misuse or loss and from unauthorised access or disclosure
• Our staff are committed to respect these principles at all times
• If staff or a student has a valid information seeking or training requirement that involves the gathering of certain information pertaining to your child or family, the staff or student must have written consent from you and the Coordinator of the Centre
All privacy related comments, feedback, suggestions or complaints should be directed to the Centre’s Coordinator, Nicole Winduss, 9583 4566.
Platypus Junction will follow up all privacy comments, feedback, suggestions or complaints within 14 days, resolving to maintain our high standards of service provision.
